2018 United Way Campaign Theme Focus: ‘Every Day, the United Way’

Jul 23, 2018 | News

During its 2018 campaign, Rowan County United Way will highlight its daily commitment to improving the community.

This year’s theme, “Every Day, The United Way,” emphasizes the consistency with which the organization and its agencies serve people who find themselves in circumstances beyond their control.

United Way funding supports agencies that provide a wide range of essential health and human services, from youth, family and senior adult programs to emergency services. The Family Crisis Council, for example, stands ready to assist women, men and children who are victims of abuse, and the Rowan County Rescue Squad responds to immediate emergencies. While other United Way agencies may not address emergencies in quite the same way, they work relentlessly, day in and day out, to ensure that basic needs are met and Rowan County citizens have the assistance they need to live better lives.

“You may not read or hear about Rowan County United Way every day, but every day, all of the United Way agencies are hard at work,” said John Struzick, 2018 United Way Campaign Chair. “They are going about the important business of helping people improve their lives. Without our support, they would be unable to provide services that are critical for our community. Every dollar contributed to the United Way is at work, every single day.”

Since 1956, the Rowan County United Way has supported human service agencies by organizing and facilitating annual fundraising events. The 2017 fundraising campaign raised more than $1.5 million to be distributed to member agencies.

Rowan County United Way currently serves agencies including Rowan County Literacy Council, The Arc/Rowan, Rowan Vocational Opportunities, Boy Scouts (Central NC Council), Communities in Schools of Rowan County, Rowan County YMCA, Rowan County Youth Services Bureau, American Red Cross, Rowan County Rescue Squad, The Salvation Army, Trinity Living Center, Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, Families First, Inc., Family Crisis Council and Smart Start Rowan. In addition, United Way serves two partner agencies, Jobs for Life and Capstone Recovery Center.
